Coming Of Age
Memphis Bleek
(Def Jam)

FOR FANS OF:
Jay-Z, Cam'ron, and Noreaga...
|
Just imagine how bleak things would really be for the competition if Memph came with something new on his debut, Coming of Age. But instead of the young hustla steppin' up to the stage with the ginsu-sharp street recitations made famous by his mentor, Jay-Z, Bleek's stern voice and giddy musical approach will ultimately get overlooked thanks to weighty lyrics that don't do much to the emotions.
"Regular Cat" is the perfect example of Memphis Bleek trying entirely too hard to reach out on some non-threatening, reflective vibe. On the flip side, with boisterous, less sentimental efforts like "Memphis Bleek Is. . .," the totally addictive "What You Think of That," and the hollowed-out "Everybody," feelings quickly change, and we hear from an MC that will surely be a force to reckon with once he finally does come of age.
